Doing projects in geo really expands my perspective on the world. Its easy to just live in your own bubble but exploring the bits and pieces that make up Earth always amazes me. When a natural disaster strikes, we are wrapped up in concern on the aftermath of destruction but they best way we learn is by seeing the how. This project is only specifically on Hot Spots but its one part of the Earth that can create chain effects that are part of bigger things. Natural disasters don't just happen out of no where, there always is a cause and effect, making geologists jobs just that much more interesting. I personally don't find Hot Spots that fascinating but during the process of the research I found myself wandering off the specific point of research to other links, connecting to other geo points. Emphasizing how geography is interconnected and its hard to just look at one portion of the Earth without bringing recognition to each step to how the Earth functions.
After the research portion, I took a lot of information out of the websites. I liked how not every website gave the exact information as it was more of puzzle pieces of how the Hot Spot came to be. This info is not a day to day use but its something that someone who lived on the Hawaiian islands would have to consider, such as the origin of how the islands came to be. Its something you can't ignore as the geography is something you have to consider for your safety and interest. I found myself hopping from website to website, trying to pick info that would suit each category best as they all had something different. It definitely was a challenge as I felt that not all the websites would be considered reliable but I had to work off with what I had and could see what made sense.
